Jdeideh is an Administrative center serving the Metn Caza of Mount Lebanon.  It is also a populated suburb of Beirut.  In Jdeideh one can visit the permanent maritime exhibition.  The display includes some 3,000 shells and about 630 species, including the murex, source of purple dye in Phoenician times.
