The Ecotourism Society defines
ecotourism as "responsible
travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and
improves the welfare of the local people".
A walk through a forest or a rafting trip is only ecotourism if it
raises both awareness and funds to help protect the environment
and benefit the people who live there.
With
The Ecotourist Code of Conduct as your guideline, Ikama
proposes that you explore Lebanon's natural diversity through the natural
spots that we have selected. While some of them (the
protected areas) benefit the local community, others constitute as
"nature-based tourism", which is a more generic term for any
activity or travel experience with a focus on nature.
