Sofar - Main Street
(1280m, 27km from Beirut)

Sofar at an elevation of 1280m was another stop on the Beirut-Damascus railroad and in fact, is said to have earned its name from the trains whistle "saufar in arabic".

Sofar
is known for its many beautiful old houses and its "corniche" overlooking the Metn River valley and mount Kneiseh.



 


Getting There ...
The Beirut-Damascus highway eastbound leads directly to Sofar passing through Aley and Bhamdoun (See Mount Lebanon Map)
